Dr. Jay Passavant - Founding Pastor
Dr. Jay Passavant and his wife, Carol, founded North Way Christian Community in 1981 along with eight other couples. Dr. Passavant will serve in his new role as Founding Pastor where he will continue to teach sermons on a rotating schedule. In addition, he will be involved in several areas of ministry, including L.A.M.P, North Way Counseling Services, Trinity Seminary, Global Missions, Wexford Starlite Car Cruise and others. Pastor Jay has been married to his wife, Carol for 30 years. They have three married children and four grandchildren.
Scott Stevens - Lead Pastor
As the Lead Pastor, Scott is the directional leader, oversees campus pastors and ministry leaders, is a teaching pastor and serves on the Executive Leadership Team. He served as Family Pastor for six years and has worked closely with Dr. Passavant as Executive Pastor for the past three years. He served many years in ministry before coming to North Way in 2002. Scott is a native Pittsburgher with a love for all things “Pittsburgh.” He lives in the North Hills with his wife of 24 years, Tina, and their two daughters. “Go Bucs!”
Kent Chevalier - Pastor
Kent is a teaching pastor and oversees multiple ministries at the Wexford Campus and the Worship Cafe. Kent began at North Way in 2007 with more than 14 previous years in full-time ministry. Kent is married to Erica, and they have three daughters.
Doug Melder- Oakland Pastor
Doug is the pastor of the Oakland Campus. Doug is a member of our teaching team and provides leadership to other areas of our church as needed. Doug began at North Way in 2001. Doug and his wife Amy live in Friendship with their two sons.
Scott McCabe - Sewickley Valley Pastor
Scott McCabe is the Campus Pastor of the Sewickley Valley Campus, and also provides oversight of Adult Life Ministries at all North Way locations. Scott has served in numerous areas of pastoral leadership since his ordination at North Way in 1985. Scott and his wife Missy have lived in the Pittsburgh area for 36 years, and have five children and four grandchildren.
Bryan McCabe- East End Pastor and LAMP
Bryan serves as the pastor of the East End campus and the LAMP (Learning and Mentoring Partnership) a mentoring initiative in the Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh. He began at North Way in 2006. Bryan lives in the East End of the city of Pittsburgh with his wife, Julie, and their two daughters.
Rob Burkey - Worship Pastor
Rob oversees all worship and production at all North Way campuses and serves on the Executive Leadership Team. He began at North Way in 2008 with 18 previous years in ministry. Rob is married to Kerry with one daughter.
Darren Bowers - Family Ministry Pastor
Darren oversees all ministry programs for children and students birth through college across all North Way campuses. He began at North Way in 2004. Darren is married to his wife, Lorie, with one son and one daughter.
John Syes - Care Pastor
John develops support groups at each campus to help members through difficulties and problems, oversees the counseling center and personal counseling for individuals. He has been a member of North Way since 1981 and on staff since 1989. John has been married for 36 years to Carlene; two married sons and one granddaughter.
Bill James - Pastor
Bill shares his time between the care ministry (critical, crisis and long term care), and advocating on behalf of the abandoned children through the Orphan Care Ministry. He began full time at North Way in 2005 with 20 years serving faith-based non profit ministry sector. Bill will be married 40 years in 2012 to Karen; they have one son and one daughter.
Chris Fitting - Chief Operating Officer
Chris oversees the operational functions at all campuses including finance, development, maintenance and IT and serves on the Executive Leadership Team. He began North Way in 2006. Chris has been married 27 years to Karen with one son and one daughter.
Sandy Weiss - Executive Director of Administrative Services
Sandy leads teams responsible for Human Resources, Communications and Administration and serves on the Executive Leadership Team. She began at North Way in 2003 and attends the Oakland Campus. Sandy has been married for 26 years to Bob with two daughters.
