2011-2012 Small Group Curriculums

The following small group curriculums come highly recommended by our North Way Teaching Team. As small group leaders, we desire to set you up to succeed in order to spiritually lead your group towards being healthy, internally and externally. We believe the following studies will do this well, and though this is not an exclusive list of all such studies available, we are asking you to choose from this list as much as possible. We believe there is power in our church moving ahead together in unity within the current theological boundaries we have in place.

Each of these 6-week curriculums has a DVD as well as a participant guide (with one exception); additionally they each have a hardcover book on which the study is based, though not necessary to the small group learning. These can be obtained online through Amazon.com, Zondervan.com or other means; please purchase your DVD’s, participant guides and/or books as a group. If you have any questions about using or ordering a study, please contact your campus manager or small group coordinator.

The Christian Atheist: Believing in God but Living as if He Doesn’t Exist
Craig Groeschel [Pastor, Author]

The Christian Atheist, by recovering Christian Atheist Craig Groeschel, is an honest, hard-hitting and eye-opening look into the ways people believe in God but live as if he doesn’t exist. From his own lapses in faith as a young man to the painful self-admission he had to make as an established pastor, Groeschel’s own journey will immerse you and challenge you into a deeper, Christ-filled life.

Prodigal God: Finding Your Place at the Table
Dr. Timothy Keller [Pastor, New York Times bestselling author]

The Prodigal God opens your eyes to the powerful message of Jesus' best-known—and least understood—parable. Taking you beyond the traditional focus on the wayward younger son, Dr. Keller helps you glean insights from each of the characters in Jesus' parable: the irreligious younger son, the moralistic elder son, and the Father who lavishes his love on both. This will challenge the devout and the skeptic alike to see Christianity in a whole new way.

The Next Christians: Following Jesus in a Post-Christian Culture
Gabe Lyons

While many Christians are bemoaning their faith’s decline, Gabe Lyons is optimistic that Christianity’s best days are yet to come. Next Christians, supported by the likes of Chuck Colson, speaks to the development of faithful Christians who desire to be a force for restoration and want the label Christian to mean something good, intelligent, authentic, and beautiful. Driven by the idea of restoration, the next generation of Christians embodies six revolutionary yet orthodox characteristics.

Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit
Francis Chan [Pastor, Author]

Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives. As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit—the Helper—so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today’s church has admired the gift but neglected to open it. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan’s invitation to stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

Hand Me Another Brick: Timeless Lessons on Leadership (from Nehemiah)
Chuck Swindoll [Pastor, Author]

To understand key principles of leadership, turn with Pastor Swindoll to the Book of Nehemiah! In Hand Me Another Brick Bible you'll travel into Nehemiah's world where the walls of his beloved city, Jerusalem, had crumbled. Regardless of the extent of your leadership realm you can learn from Nehemiah's godly example. Like the bricks and mortar of a solid, ancient city wall, the bricks of excellent leadership must be placed on a foundation of the Bible and godly character with the mortar of faith and fortitude.

* This study is 12 weeks long. It has no DVD; instead it is a book to be read and discussed each week, with the leaders also having the “workbook”. All are available on Amazon.
